When I flew home yesterday from Charleston, while most people were seeking relief from their sunburns and reminiscing about their vacations, I was delving into The Wall St. Journal’s profile on Tracy Britt Cool, an ex- Berkshire Hathaway star. Mrs. Cool’s new company Kanbrick invests in businesses with $10m - $50m in revenue. What does Mrs. Cool look for when investing in a company? People and moats.

We’re reading the book together because it helps us learn insights into working together and running the best company we can. On page 275, Mr. Collins shares an anecdote about a group of workers at an airplane manufacturing facility during World War II. The workers found inspiration from meeting the crew that flew the planes they ...

Yesterday I spoke with an independent jewelry store that was targeted by cybercriminals. The criminals created a ransomware attack and held the store’s computer data hostage. The store had to scramble to find backup data and reopen. The store called the FBI and didn’t pay. The hackers then sent phishing emails to all the store’s customers—attacking the store’s customers and trying to infect them.

Are your store displays 'frozen' in time? Compare Target and Kohl's Frozen 2 displays.
Retail Dive shares this observation:
A "Frozen 2" display at Target (top photo) fosters discovery, while the same goods at Kohl's (pictured lower) are stacked efficiently. "The two photographs say everything about how those companies operate," says retail consultant Sanford Stein.
Stack those pancakes high and top it with Kettle Ridge syrup! Why is this sweet stuff so delicious? Because it’s local and made with love! This little farm is finding ways to educate and entertain their guests to the farm and we are ALL about that. If you haven’t head of Kettle Ridge, it might be time to pull up a chair to the breakfast table for a big treat. We were curious about how the modern day farmer gets their start and what goes into creating the sweet life on a sustainable farm.

3. Boosting a ...

They get ripped off by web designers and coders, have to pay local taxes unlike many Amazon sellers, don’t have access to cheap money from Wall St. like Amazon.com, and get attacked by hackers looking to steal credit cards, all factors which prevent them from running their business, helping their customers, and servicing their communities. Because of these expenses and obstacles, ...
