Facebook and Instagram disabled about 2 billion suspect/fake accounts in just the first nine months of 2018. (Notice they don’t use the word ‘closed.’)
Facebook is suing a company’s network or businesses based in a China for $100k for selling fake accounts. The fake accounts were used to spread misinformation and scams. $100k doesn’t seem like much. No word on what the companies charged customers.

Know a stuffy brand whose sales are flat? Well, maybe they did what Tod’s did. Tod’s is now on the defensive as it tries to recoup market share. It didn’t launch new products often enough, didn’t do limited editions, didn’t host events, and overall underfunded its marketing.

There is a 'Cold War' battle going on between Amazon and Walmart, if you haven't noticed. Both are building platforms that soak up every other business and its products into their respective ecosystems. Walmart is late to the game, but its been on a binge recently buying Art.com and now its partnered with a sport apparel company Fanatics.
As a reference, Facebook, Instagram, and Bridge are all platforms.
What platforms are you on? What is your strategy to chart this battle? Are you a Walmart or...

Shopify, a fellow e-commerce platform, has a blog that shares business tips. Braveen Kumar recently shared some tips about getting traffic in the first 30 days of setting up a website, including:
1. Email your friends and family a discount/coupon. But note: don't spam people. Only send high-quality, unique content, and send it sparingly.
2. List your URL everywhere.
3. Join online communities/groups to share your business story.

Happy to see Carol Schroeder as a speaker at this summer’s NY NOW. We’ve mentioned Carol’s book (in which we’re featured) many times. ...but this post comes with an asterisk.
