Best of Thymes, an indie store in Iowa, just closed (https://bestofthymes.bridgecatalog.com/news.cfm?id=20645). Hopefully, they’ll continue to operate online and keep using Bridge. Best of Thymes is part of an industry-wide series of closures that is affecting large and small retailers. Due to this, brands are increasing their efforts to go D2C. Brands justify this by saying that there are fewer stores to show their wares. While this is true, surely they are motivated by: 2x the margins. ...

Zola has added a "Home Store" tab to its site. The goal: become an online retailer that does it all...oh, and maybe does gift registries, too. Notably, this a departure from its original, registry-focused mission statement. Initially, Zola told brands that indie store gift registry services were not servicing out of the way towns and that by opening Zola, the brand would reach brides in remote parts of, say, Oklahoma. Zola didn't say that it was simply selling ...

Part of my job is to review registry software. I ensure that it works well for retailers, registrants, and gift-givers (family and friends). I also assess whether it offers good value (price vs results).
A retailer recently shared with me that it uses the service MyRegistry.com. I reviewed the retailer's site and how a customer would make a registry purchase via MyRegistry.com. For privacy purposes, I changed the name of the store in the screenshots shown.
Indie Bridge stores outrank two national chains when one Google’s gift registry service for a state.
Breed & Co. and P.S the Letter, two Texas-based stores that use Bridge to power their online stores, beat Dillard’s and Target when one Goolges “gift registry Texas.” When one Googles other state names, Bridge retailers in those states also beat national chains.
When stores choose to power their online operations with Bridge, they are choosing ...

Curious why you don’t sell more online? Answer: selling online is brutally competitive. Just ask Brandless, a company with more than $100m in funding that just closed and laid off all 70 employees. Selling online often produces the opposite of what you’d expect: thin margins.
One bright spot in e-commerce: gift registries. Gift registry orders have higher margins, lower customer acquisition costs, and a built-in promoter for your site: the bride. Don’t think this...

Carol Schroeder, who owns a store in Wisconsin and uses Bridge for her gift registry service, shares her thoughts on "porch pirates"--thieves that steal packages delivered to your front porch.
Carol suggests that porch pirates can be used as leverage to encourage customers to 'buy online, pick up in-store.' When customers do this, they often buy more while in the store picking up the item.

For Retailers: Good news: the wedding registry season is here! Consider these facts:
1. This year 2.5 million weddings will occur in the U.S. That's 2.5 million potential gift registries for your store. :)
2. Amazon, Zola, and Crate & Barrel make millions from gift registry purchases. You will, too.
3. The average gift registry purchase is $142, and the average registry receives over $1,000 in gifts.
4. The online gift registry business is the one spot where indie stores are winning online.
First comes love, then comes the registry. Both make you eager to say “I do”. Glassworks has both custom (we do the heavy lifting for you) and online (do-it-yourself) registry services. Call, email, or message us for more info!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo courtesy of VIETRI , one of our top brands.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Michael Aram White Orchid Collection At Glassworks! According to Michael Aram, "Orchids naturally emit a sense of sensuality and seductiveness, but in white nickel they take on a completely different meaning – an element of brightness that I associate with new beginnings. When I think of white orchids, I imagine the purity and sweetness of a newlywed couple at the beginning of their lifelong journey."
New Michael Aram Calla Lily At Glassworks! The new Calla Lily collection from Michael Aram is inspired by the beauty of the Calla Lily Flower. The architectural, curving shape of the flower is strong, yet suggests an intense sensuality. The flower is associated with weddings as it is symbolic of purity and innocence. Pieces from this collection make great wedding gifts and and marvelous building blocks for a wedding registry.
