A special thanks to Vietri’s Hali Vradelis and and Adam Sigel for hosting Bridge. We shared 10 steps for stores to boost their gift registry sales by 14%.

Carol Schroeder, who owns a store in Wisconsin and uses Bridge for her gift registry service, shares her thoughts on "porch pirates"--thieves that steal packages delivered to your front porch.
Carol suggests that porch pirates can be used as leverage to encourage customers to 'buy online, pick up in-store.' When customers do this, they often buy more while in the store picking up the item.
Take some inspiration from The Flower Shop in Auburn, Alabama. The florists and gift shop sent their clients an attractive email announcing their Bridge Registry.
By using Bridge, The Flower Shop was able to quickly create an online store with a gift registry--and have it filled with 13,000 products. Their Bridge Store was instantly populated with 4,500 Herend products, 1,800 Vietri products, 400 Arte Italica products, and 300 Annieglass products. ...

Barneys will likely keep thousands of dollars belonging to brides, shares today’s Times. The defunct retailer will keeps the brides’ registry credits if they don’t redeem them by this Thursday.
This is also bad for the brands that were sold via Barneys' registries. For example, let's imagine Barneys sells Waterford. If a bride registered for a Waterford product, and that item was gifted by a family member, Waterford would expect that item to be bought by ...

You can customize your home page slides. You can add pictures of your store, products, events, and more.
In the examples shown, we see how the Seattle-based store Timothy de Clue loaded a picture of a wine glass with the Pike Place Market in the background. Persnickety, a shop based in Madison, MS, added a picture of its store's exterior.
By default, your Newsfeed slideshow includes slides promoting gift cards, your gift registry, and reviews. You can hide these if you wish. You can also ...

I went into a small shop in New York City yesterday and admired all their nice tableware. It offered mugs, cups, plates, drinking glasses, and vases—all items that are great for gift registries.
The store was empty. I thought it may be a good time ask the store manager if the store offered an online registry. He replied "yes." I was surprised because there was no signage in the store that said it offered a gift registry. I shared with him what Bridge is and explained that we...

We have a new milestone: mobile orders exceeded desktop orders for the first time this past Saturday on Bridge. This is notable because desktop orders have historically beat mobile orders.
Shoppers choose the mobile route on Saturday because they are most likely out of the office and on the go. But why had mobile not trumped desktop before? We believe that mobile-based purchases are increasing as shoppers get more comfortable with mobile (aka they are making more mobile purchases for other ...

I developed Bridge Network, an e-commerce platform, that is not included in this article. Here are some things I have learned over the last 20 years of e-commerce development:
1. The article’s ranking criteria includes themes and templates. I believe you don't need an assortment of templates to have a functioning (or successful) e-commerce site. Just look at ...

Here’s a new idea: a wedding website after the event can become a ‘thank you’ site and share what happened. This idea and more can be gleamed from this weekend’s Times article about building a wedding website.
The Times suggests a couple could self-host a website and have a website designer custom build it, but I’d highly discourage that as it’s very time consuming and expensive. Aren’t weddings already enough of this? :) Using a wedding site platform that is hosted by the provider is the way to ...

Business lunch: how retail is changing :)
Old retail is 80% analog. This consists of: the physical store, staff, customer service training, etc. What you’d expect walking into a Saks or Macy's. And it's about 20% tech: computers, cash registers (POS systems), mobile shopping, Google ranking, apps, hiring social influencers, Instagram, etc.
Today, the retailers that are well positioned, growing, and 'hot' carry the opposite equation: they're 20% analog and 80% tech.

You can now add special, unique pricing to items on a gift registry. For example, you can use this feature when an item can be monogrammed and you need to charge more for it. You can use this feature if a registry gift comes as a set but the item on your site only shows pricing for a single item. You can double the price using this feature and add a comment to the item saying it the gift includes two of the items.
