How registrants can add a link at the top of their The Knot website leading to their registry at your store.
April 26, 2024
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: Your registrants can now share their registry at your store on The Knot more easily.
By default, The Knot lists manually added registries at the bottom of the page. The Knot lists registries from big-box names, like Target and Crate & Barrel, at the top of the page. Unfortunately, this makes it harder for gift givers to find your store in a registrant's list of registries.
There isn’t a way to change the page order to have the ...

Glassworks just received a shipment of handmade glass from Blenko, based in West Virginia. The classic 384 water Bottle design was first introduced in 1938 and has been produced at their factory, by hand, almost non-stop since that very first year. The water bottle’s narrow shape with two pouring spouts and center indentation make for easy handling. Today, this piece of glassblowing history is commonly used as:
A glass pitcher - to serve drinks or enjoy a cool glass of ...

While browsing Crate & Barrel's Noho store, I noticed this nice banner.
I recommend that stores promote their baby (and wedding) registry service. They can put up banners like this, as well as put smaller upright displays on shelves and near the cash register.
Are you promoting your baby and wedding registry services in your shop? If so, please send us pictures. We'd like to see how you're doing it ;)
I was happy see that our friend Adam Sigel will be leading JK Adams. Please checkout the news below.
DORSET, Vt. —JK Adams has appointed Adam Sigel CEO.

It’s a formidable task, overseeing product development for all of Lenox’s flatware brands, which includes Lenox, Kate Spade, Oneida, Cambridge, Hampton Forge, Reed & Barton, and Gorham. Your tenures at Oneida and Bed Bath & Beyond, as the tabletop buyer, provide a solid foundation for this position.
Prior to Oneida, where I was senior product marketing manager when Lenox acquired us, I was at Bed Bath & Beyond for 12 years, most recently as the tabletop buyer. My whole ...

Bridge helps 1,000 indie stores offer gift registries. We've handled 70,000 registries. One trend we've noticed over the year is The Knot, a leading wedding website provider, is minimizing sales opportunities for indie stores. The Knot has created partnerships with big-box players, including Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Amazon, and relegated the indie stores to the bottom of the bride's page.
In this example, we see the indie stores displayed at the very bottom ...

When a customer visits a bride's gift registry on theknot.com, the customer can buy from four big-box stores--or one indie store. The indie store's website and gift registry are powered by: Bridge.
We're proud to help the indie store be displayed alongside these retail giants. The Regency Collection, owned by Linda Geffen and based in Boca Raton, Florida, appears alongside Bed, Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma,...

Part of my job is to review registry software. I ensure that it works well for retailers, registrants, and gift-givers (family and friends). I also assess whether it offers good value (price vs results).
A retailer recently shared with me that it uses the service MyRegistry.com. I reviewed the retailer's site and how a customer would make a registry purchase via MyRegistry.com. For privacy purposes, I changed the name of the store in the screenshots shown.
Crate & Barrel sent me a compelling email. What can we learn from it when crafting our own marketing emails?
Email's feature:
1. Mentions flatware in the subject line.
2. Create urgency: displays an "Ends Monday" deadline at the top.
3. Promotes "free, local" delivery.
4. Shows a call-to-action "Shop Now" button.
5. Shows a nice table setting.
Market buildings are looking down the barrel of a gun. To find out why, check out my article in this month's Tableware Today.
THE LAST WORD
CHART YOUR FUTURE BEFORE BIG TECH DOES
by JASON SOLAREK
Market buildings are starting to take digital seriously. Why, finally? Because Amazon is nipping at retailers’ heels? No. Because Zola is stealing indie stores’ registry business? No. Sadly, the main thing that’s brought markets up to speed has to do with their own dollars and ...

Stack those pancakes high and top it with Kettle Ridge syrup! Why is this sweet stuff so delicious? Because it’s local and made with love! This little farm is finding ways to educate and entertain their guests to the farm and we are ALL about that. If you haven’t head of Kettle Ridge, it might be time to pull up a chair to the breakfast table for a big treat. We were curious about how the modern day farmer gets their start and what goes into creating the sweet life on a sustainable farm.
Amy Stavis in Tableware Today shares that 47% of New Jersey Millennials live with their parents, and nationally 74% aren’t married. This translates into a smaller gift registry market than 40 or 20 years ago.
With that said, Crate &Barrel, Target, and Zola are selling millions of registry gifts. Why shouldn’t your store? The gift registry market is easy pickings for stores that sell cups and plates. You already have the stock and offering the service costs almost nothing. And it’s a service ...

Today’s WSJ interviews Crate & Barrel CEO Neela Montgomery. Interesting points: - 50% of media budget spent on digital. - 47% of its furniture sales are online. - 95% of products it sells are private label. - It doesn’t plan to sell on amazon.com. - It’s working to speed up shipping times.
