In honor of the upcoming Preakness Stakes, here's a little bit of history about the Maryland Julep Cup! Maryland has been home to many talented craftspeople. As a matter of fact, it is still home to the talented craftspeople here at Salisbury! We chose the graceful and functional designs of the presentation cups made by Andrew Ellicott Warner of Baltimore (c. 1805-1870) to represent the state. When you are looking for a gift to express goodwill or to mark a special occasion, the Maryland cup is ...

We Are Not Broadway
I was chatting with a sales rep whom I highly admire this week about retail and he suggested that Neimans and Nordstrom could reverse their dipping sales by hiring more people and / or providing better in-store customer service. How often is Le Creuset mentioned on the Time's home page? Probably not too often - and yet this mention isn't likely the one the storied kitchenware brand wanted: it's about misleading customers. The biggest abusers of customers: online entities like Wayfair, Overstock, and Amazon.
In contrast, indy mom and pop stores don't have the lax morals, chutzpah, nor technical ability to pull the cons these big online players do.
This story is actually good reason to shop with your local store.
How does your physical store compare your online store? I created this comparison below for my marketing friend Diane.
Your Physical Store vs. Your Online Store:
Sidewalk = small websites and blogs that lead to your website, such as local newspaper sites, local community groups, a bride’s gift registry that links to your store. These sites provide: foot traffic.
Road = major websites that lead to your website, such as Facebook, the New York Times site, etc. These sites provide:
