In today’s Times, we learn that Amazon is raising and lowering the prices of items millions of times a day. We also learn that it has displayed different prices for the same item based on who you are. Imagine going in to a store and the paper towels are $3 for the person next to you but $4 for you.
I can attest to Amazon changing prices multiple times a day because Amazon crawls my retailers’ websites multiple times a day. It’s as if they have spies coming in our...

Your Bridge has a new feature: you can now easily assign an order to a registry. This update solves the issue of a customer that buys a registry gift but not from the registry list. For example, a customer may buy something the registrant didn't request, or the customer may browse off the registry list and then buy an item. With this update, you can edit the order and assign the gift to any registry list.
In the example, we see an order that Robert Smith placed. Let's imagine that this ...

Yesterday I spoke with an independent jewelry store that was targeted by cybercriminals. The criminals created a ransomware attack and held the store’s computer data hostage. The store had to scramble to find backup data and reopen. The store called the FBI and didn’t pay. The hackers then sent phishing emails to all the store’s customers—attacking the store’s customers and trying to infect them.
In the movie 'We’re the Millers,' a character played by Jason Sudeikis interviews a teen boy wooing Sudeikis’ teenage daughter. Sudeikis interviews the boy about his interests and compatibility with his daughter. (Watch the scene here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjkLKKgOMRY .) The boy’s neck tattoo reads “No Ragrets.” When Sudeikis inquires about this tattoo, the boy confidently claims that he has no regrets, to which Sudeikis asks, "Not even&...

A new trend in retail is vacant shops in urban neighborhoods being converted to small warehouses. In the East Village on 10th Street, we see on the left the new warehouse model; on the right we see a traditional retailer. For the ‘store’ on the left, the customer orders via their mobile phone and then does a pickup or gets a delivery.
I’m seeing more of these ‘zombie stores’ around the city. Just in the East Village, I’ve seen four: ...

I recently saw an advertisement for Windows 11 in Wired magazine. I thought: “Wow, finally something from Microsoft that someone can understand: a logical name for their software offering.” I recall a time when Microsoft had a confusing litany of software names including: NT, 98, 2000, Millennium (ME), Windows XP, and Vista--before finally relegating those clumsy names to the desktop recycle bin and adopting a simple, progressive number system. Apple has been naming its ...

I recently bought a pair of jeans from the bike-lifestyle company Rapha. I find Rapha's stores, emails, and mission to be inspiring to Bridge, and I'll explain why.
First, you may ask, "What is Rapha?" Rapha is a product company that sells goods for biking, including shirts, shorts, helmets, and accessories. What is unique is the lengths it goes to foster a community (and sales!) by having a coffee shop in it, organizing riding events, offering members-only clothing...

Vietri, a premium designer of Italian home goods and an advertiser with Bridge, ran a pretty advertisement in this month’s ‘Garden & Gun’ magazine. The ad features 33 dealers throughout the South where one can buy Vietri.
Of the 33 stores listed, 12 (more than 33%) use Bridge Store to more easily sell Vietri.
These retailers use Bridge Store (listed in same order as advertisement):
Jim Collins, in his book BE 2.0, explains how purpose and mission are important to companies. To help explain this, he uses the metaphor of crossing a mountain range and seeing a star on the horizon. Your purpose is to reach the spot on the horizon below the star. The current mission is climbing up the mountain you’re on. The next mission is climbing up the next mountain and so forth in order to get closer to the spot on the horizon. You will have many missions, and may never ...

We are so excited to be offering gift and wedding registry items to our store! Here is a easy way to look at our brides items online and pick something out. We currently do not have a credit card system set up with this site so when you place your order we will have to call you and get your credit card information over the phone. From there we will let the bride know you have left a gift or make sure it gets to a certain shower date that you specify.

When HFN magazine shared new introductions from the Atlanta show, Bridge was happy to see that five out of the 11 brands featured (45%) are Bridge partner brands. Why is this important? Retailers using Bridge will immediately display these new introductions in their Bridge Stores without any work or money spent. This technology allows the retailers to more quickly market and sell these products.
Brands featured in the article that are Bridge partner brands include:
Roger Bailey, sale rep extraordinaire, shared these 2013 pictures with me. They’re taken outside the 41 Madison building. Since it’s 19° in NYC this week, these pics make us long for a warm day when we can bike to a market.

When a retailer wants to pick a line to carry, it often wants to carry a brand that is easy to work with. When a store sees the Bridge decal, it knows the brand is easy to sell. In this example, a store knows that Teakhaus is easy to sell because it’s a Bridge product syncing brand. This means that all of the brand’s products will sync to an authorized retailer’s online store. Kitchen 2 Table, the owner of the showroom shown, offers a wide variety of brands that participate in ...

While I was down in Dallas evangelizing about Bridge, the Dallas Market Center’s software provider and sister company (called MarketTime) invited me to their offices for a meeting. The goal of the meeting was to explore teaming up to help brands and retailers speed products to market, as well as get a leg up on the competition.
The Dallas Mart consists of two primary buildings, each with atriums and many floors each. I like the Dallas show because of the abundance of ...
