A new trend in retail is vacant shops in urban neighborhoods being converted to small warehouses. In the East Village on 10th Street, we see on the left the new warehouse model; on the right we see a traditional retailer. I’m seeing more of these ‘zombie stores’ around the city. Just in the East Village, I’ve seen four: ...

India has passed rules to encourage local businesses to grow and thwart Amazon’s bulldozing of smaller businesses. They call it the “national champion” program. Is anyone making anything anywhere in America anymore? And, why is this question relevant? I work daily to get consumers to shop local. Lives depend on it. Family owned businesses depend on it...

There’s always a party pooper. New Hampshire is seeking to undermine the recent Supreme Court victory for small businesses by interfering with the ruling. The state (along with Delaware, Montana, Alaska, and Oregon) doesn’t collect sales tax, so it sees the work needed to collect sales tax as onerous. Thankfully, legal experts give New Hampshire a low chance of succeeding in this.

How do we make life easier for small businesses? That's a question we ask here at Bridge, so we're happy to see this service by Stripe that seeks to do the same for foreign entrepreneurs. Admittedly, I think that there are plenty of U.S.-based businesses that need help like the article mentions, but I'm willing to give Stripe a high five for inspiring us.
